In Genesis we are told the story of how God told Abraham to go to  Mount Moriah and sacrifice his son, his only son Isaac. How could Abraham do such a thing?

Heb 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Heb 11:18 of whom it was said, “IN ISAAC YOUR SEED SHALL BE CALLED,”
Heb 11:19 concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.

This is why Abraham is the father of all those who believe.
He believed in the resurrection of the son of God.

Jesus said of Abe….Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
Abraham was moving by faith….the faith given by God to do what God wants done. With man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
He was prepared to obey God as Jesus was, knowing that God was able to raise Him from the dead.

Mar 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

How could Jesus go to his death unless he believed as Abraham had believed…that God was able to raise him from it’s grip?
He believed hallelujah…and in so doing he offered Himself for our sins by faith…and that same faith is now yours in Christ…that you would also lay down your life.

Paul tells us the life that we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of the son of God who gave Himself for us. Gal 2:20b We are one spirit with Jesus who is always giving Himself for others. We are gripped by a Life that is always leading us to death that Christ may be revealed in and as and through us.

We live by this same laying down our life faith…the faith that Abraham had, and now is in us through Christ in us.
